About Landmark Status

The original developer of 4240 N. Clarendon, Paul Swanson, created the first association for the property. It was named Buena Landmark Condo Association even though the property was not a landmark. Several of the building’s utility bills are still in this name. When some of the original condo owners in 4240 wanted to start an association, they were surprised to find out that one already existed. Owners were also never told that Buena Landmark was given violations by the city for plumbing work done without permits with fines of $10-$200/day. BUENA LANDMARK PLUMBING VIOLATIONS

In the beginning, folks were told 4240 was a landmark for its unique lobby that spans five city lots.
